thank you my friend

I am pretty sure that I will be the only person interested in what I have to say... I guess I am truly jealous of anyone that has their 15 minutes of fame (read: reality television shows), but I cannot be edited by big corporations to fit their story lines. I would say or sell their products, but maybe I can get a sponsor.

More Thoughts on Uncle John and New Orleans

I am sure that Uncle John is safe, just working like crazy right now in New Orleans. Here's another great thing that he did. He came to visit us, he must have been about 16 or 17 and he fixed our door bell. I don't ever remember the door bell working he came, he saw, he fixed it. I was pretty little. I remember being impressed that he took care of it. Of course he seemed very grown up to me. Afterall, he was visiting without Grandma and Grandpa AND he fixed the door bell. Now that the clean up is strarting, that's when I worry. Mom says that John says it isn't the snakes and the alligators, it is the fire ants. I suppose they find higher ground just as well as anything. I hope that Lisa and Patrick are okay too. I understand that they are in Pensacola, it seems that they got hit pretty hard there too. I am not familiar with where John lives in New Orleans, Uncle Joe says that John's house is actually 2 feet above sea level, a high point in New Orleans. My first prayer is for physical safety, my second prayer is for a home for them to return to.

My Uncle John in New Orleans

My Uncle John lives in New Orleans, he has for many years. He moved there I guess when he was about 18. The last time I saw him was probably five years ago. I have a great memory of going to see Van Halen in St. Louis with him. We had seats behind the stage and ended up watching the show while wandering around for a better view. He works for the Water Department in New Orleans, on the large pumps that you probably have been hearing about on the news. His wife and son left for Pensacola earlier today. I hope that he will be safe. I know that he works in a safe building, but he will have many hard hours ahead of him, I am sure. My brother said that Uncle John was going to work at 1:00am tonight. Just looking for a high place to park his car. Needless to say, we are watching the weather channel and any live web cams that we can. Prayers of safety for Uncle John, Lisa and Patrick.

150 Yard Drives and Baby Kicks

I was indeed hitting 150 yard drives today. So guess what I did? I bought a used set of clubs on e-bay. For $32.00 including shipping and insurance, I will soon be the owner of a set of clubs. Then I will need a golf bag. I think I need something garrish. So I guess that my blog has turned into an update on my golf game or my driving anyhow.

We saw Rachael and Dennis on Friday night. She's less than five weeks from having her baby, and so excited! It's really awesome. While we were waiting to be seated for our fish fry, Rae says to me "Give me your hand." I didn't know what she was going to do with it... then I felt the hugest baby kick I have ever felt. It was also the most I have ever seen anyone's eyes light up. I can't wait for the baby to get here. Dennis and Rachael will make wonderful parents.

Ann at the Driving Range Again

Well Friend, I went to the driving range again and this time for my second bucket I used the automatic tee up. Great thing it is... that way I don't have to keep bending over and trying to remember where I was standing. It was awkward at first, but I will tell you what. I was able to make adjustments and I am sure that my longest drive was 100 yards and the flight of the ball was much better too. I'm like a junkie now... I know that the little buckets are about 45 balls, but I had also hit the mid sized bucket too. So I probably hit about 125 balls tonight. Be the ball Annie, be the ball... and I love my driver!

My Buffalo Quesadilla

That's Buffalo Sauce, friend. Take some of that vinegary cayenne nectar and spread on generously. Before you do that though, you have to heat your frying pan... throw in a flour tortilla shell... then slather on the good stuff on half of the shell... next throw on the shredded cheese... whatever kind you like. Let it get a little warm, then fold the uncovered half on to the good looking half. Flip it over and let the pride of Wisconsin get all melty and gooey. Take it out of the frying pan when it looks good to you. Delicious!

I Bought a Driver

I bought a driver tonight. So did Dan. I have been to the driving range exactly once and thought that I needed to buy one. Only $30, how could I refuse? I also got some more hair spray. I hope to go to the driving range on Thursday, but perhaps I should wait until Friday night and go with Mr. Wick. No messing around with the $5 bucket this time. It will be a $7 or $10 easily this time. I think I will go to the golf channel web site and see if I can find some tips for beginners. If you have any tips, let me know. Mind you, we are only talking about driving at this time. If I can get good at that, then I might pusue the entire game. This is step one.

Ann at the Driving Range

I went to a driving range today. I've never done that. When I was a junior or a senior, we had golf for about four weeks in gym class. I wasn't good at all. I guess it would be fair to say that my lack of skills soured me on golf. Well, we called up Mike and headed to one of the local establishments. I think we hit about 40 balls each today. I started off badly and finished off badly. Actually I got a bit better as we went along. I wanted to keep going, but I was surprised at how tired my body was getting. I'd like to go again. But, I don't think I could really golf. It's just fun. The only goal on a driving range is to whack the ball. On a golf course, the goal is to get the ball from the tee box to the pin in the least possible shots. Not happening. Just the driving range, I promise.

Noise Pollution Rock Show Pictures

Well Friends, I finally have some digital pictures from my guest appearance with Noise Pollution. The pictures you see here are of me with my friend Paul. He is the singer in the rock band and I was playing bass at this show. I am not a bass player, but I play one on TV. It went really well and was fun like there is no other kind of fun. If you have been on stage playing music, you know what I mean. I have to say that the guys in the band were outstanding and patient with someone who kept trying to cram six strings into four. It was a great experience and so great to play with my friend Paul. He and his wife are terrific friends. We have a lot of history together and they still like us!

I was hoping for a thunderstorm

I was hoping for a thunderstorm, but it didn't happen. I am afraid that some folks in our state got more than they bargained for. My brother told me that a person in Milwaukee found a cancelled check in her yard with a Madison address. It looks as though Stoughton got hit hard by a tornado. I'm glad that didn't happen here. Tornados are about the scariest thing to me. When I was young, about third grade, maybe first grade we had a terrible tornado that came during the middle of the school day, some kids had gone home for lunch, the rest of us were in the basement. So, it was that experience that really soured me on the whole tornado phenomenon. I hated not being at home with my Mom during that time.

Babies Everywhere!

We have a lot of babies around us... new ones... one on its way. It's a lot of fun too. Cool presents for the shower. I can't wait to see Mom's expression when she opens them. It's not the most practical gift, I know that, but it will certainly be the coolest.

In other news, I want to send a shout out to the comment on the toes. My toes have always been one of the parts of me that I have been uncomfortable with, along with my neck. Toes and neck are too long! I guess that my arms are too.

Big sale over by Kohl's. You bet I will be there.

New Socks

I have some new socks. They will be much better than the old socks that I have. The trouser socks that I have often fall prey to my elongated second toe. It happens all of the time. Plus, I put on a lot of miles at work which means extra wear and tear for the socks and the shoes... The shoes really get it because I walk on the outside of my heals, that makes for uneven wear.

Another Old Friend Found

Well, I found another old friend. I was so glad. It was terrific to see her and to meet her daughter again. I am very grateful to have the opportunity. What a wonderful world.

Cyber Marketing has No Place on My Blog

Yeah... advance myself... call some 800 number to further myself... Well let me tell you something, earn a bachelor of anything with a telephone call... with out any tests, no books, no exams? Give it a big Bill Cosby "RRRIIIGGGHHHT..." An MBA without any work? Criminey! If only I had known how easy it would be... I wouldn't be $20,000 in the red on school loans... who are these people? They must be using some phone number or something to get to people. Please let it be known that "thank you my friend" supports academic endeavors that require term papers, independent study, entrance exams, academic probation and all of the other rights, duties, privileges and responsibilities associated with said academic endeavors.

I Love the Facts of Life

I love "The Facts of Life." It was a great show for young girls. There was a character for everyone to identify with. I liked Jo. She was cool, she was tough, but she was a good friend. I was never that cool... still not. I can rest easy knowing that I will always have something greater to aspire to.

The Ann and Pat Benatar Show

Well Friends, Pat Benatar made a stop in West Allis last night. Lucky for her I was there. Who else could have provided such wonderful accompaniment? She has still got it and what she didn't have, she didn't force. The only songs she didn't do were "Treat Me Right," and two others that I would have surely thought she would have heard.

State Fair is awesome! Lots of good food and Wisconsin water... I love Wisconsin!

Bleeding and Crying Blue for Chris Pronger

Well Friends, there was no reason to think that my beloved Blues wouldn't fall prey to the wacky new NHL. I knew there was a reason that I couldn't sleep this morning. Then I learned at about 4:30 or 5:00 on the earliest of SportsCenters that the Blues had indeed traded Chris Pronger to the Edmonton Oilers. How can I recover? I am sure that Al MacInnis won't be back... then Demitra to the Kings, now Pronger is gone. Will my faith and loyalty wane? I answer a most assured no at this time, however, I may find it hard to be loyal to the team down the road. It's a bit disheartening. I think I am grieving, you know, in denial. I'll miss Pronger... who can fill those tall, tall skates? Certainly other teams have suffered as much if not more... but those are other peoples' teams... not my St. Louis Blues. I am anxiously reluctant about the coming season, now this. Stay posted.

One Year of Thank You My Friend

It's been a year... how could I have missed it yesterday! Sunday was the official anniversary. So we are celebrating with frozen Skyline Chili... two way, my friend. Don't forget the milk!
