thank you my friend

I am pretty sure that I will be the only person interested in what I have to say... I guess I am truly jealous of anyone that has their 15 minutes of fame (read: reality television shows), but I cannot be edited by big corporations to fit their story lines. I would say or sell their products, but maybe I can get a sponsor.

Finally Some Crap on the Walls

It's not really crap, it's just stuff on our walls. We've been here for about six months and until recently, the only thing on the walls in our living room was a clock. So on the Friday after Thanksgiving we went to Pier 1 and got some crap for our walls. Then on Saturday we went to Michael's and got some more crap for our other walls. The frames were all 50% off, so that's a good deal. The living room wall crap is up, now it's just time for the other wall crap to get up there.

I should also tell you that I have two very new and very cool t-shirts from my brother Jim. One is a black t-shirt the mimics the old Metallica logo, expect for it reads "WESTALLICA," and the other is one that reads "Stallis Princess." If you don't know what I am talking about it, it would be hard to explain, so I won't bother. If you do know what I am talking about you think it is funny, maybe for different reasons, but I will say this. Want to make West Allis the target of your barbs? Fine, I guess South Milwaukee needed a break.

Gobble Gobble

Today we had our first official holiday. We had 25 for Thanksgiving Dinner and we are very fortunate to have so many friends and relatives. It was really a great feeling to have so many people that we love in one spot and to know that they were all here because we asked them to be.

Certainly there were some that were missing, near and far alike. Some we talked to, others were in our thoughts and prayers. Thanksgiving is a great time to remember the people that you love.

Rock and Roll Seems to be Coming Along

I will tell you what my Friend, I think that I might be well on my way to rock and roll. Tonight my pal Rhonda and I came one step closer. All without even playing a note. We'll see where it all goes, but I have a very good vibe at this point.

So who knows, maybe I will ring in the new year with Rock and Roll!

We are preparing for Thanksgiving and I am trying to shake off some sort of funky thing that's got me not feeling so good. But not bad that I am not excited for Turkey Day and all of the fun that will surely come with it. We'll have a house full of family and I cannot wait.

Apple Pie

I just had a slice of apple pie. Yum. Lucky me. Lucky me also because I got to go to Taco Bell tonight for din-din. Ranchero Chicken Soft Tacos. Yum-o.

Tomorrow we are expecting relatives from across the country... St. Louis, Owensboro and Rochester... then we head to Madison on Saturday for the Badger game. Lucky me.

Dan and I also did a bit of cleaning in the garage. See we're having a bit of a great big Thanksgiving with not so much of a great big living room, so we bought a big space heater and we're setting up another living room in the garage... how about that, turkey?

Just About a Week...

Until Thanksgiving. One week from now we'll have a turkey in our oven and be getting ready to have our first official Thanksgiving. I've made Thanksgiving dinner and driven it an hour. I'm not worried about it at all... I can do that.

We'll have about 25 people including us. That means its 25 times the fun... wish that there were even more!

I am a bit antsy, I'm watching Laguna Beach, so I am distracted... you can like, surely totally understand.

Let's Go Red

This week we are expecting a few relatives from out of town. We're going to the Badger game this Saturday. Not only do we have folks from out of town, my brothers, Jenny and Julie will be there too.

How many times does that happen? How many times do I get to hang around with my brothers in a scene that is all grown-ups at least chronilogically if not behaviorally on that day. So I have that going for me.

I also have clean socks, satellite television, soup from a can, diet soda, an attached garage with an opener and a lot of other little things that I cand sometimes take for granted. I shouldn't. I should be counting my blessings and be grateful that I can occupy myself with such diversions.

A Peanut and Apple Pie

Today we had a great visit from a Peanut and from an apple pie. And yes, the Peanut's parents came along. If you saw Violette, you would call her peanut too. She's tiny. She's cute and kind of nutty. She had some crazy moves at the dinner table. Hard to describe. I don't know that I've ever seen anyone act like that over mashed potatoes, broccoli, apple sauce and a bit of steak.

I Will Not Take My Hat Off to Rutgers

So yes, Rutgers is for real. But I will not take my hat off to them. I am a Louisville Cardinals fan. Any hat that I have on is staying on. ESPN man, you go ahead and take your hat off to Rutgers. I'll only make my hat fit a little tighter.

I will also not take my hat off to any team that beats the Blues... I'd have to take my hat off a lot if that were the case. I will especially not take my hat off to the Detroit Red Wings. That would be like taking my hat off to the CCCP.

I will not take my hat off to Budweiser. That would also be like taking my hat off to the CCCP.

I will not take my hat off to the Chicago Bears. That would also be like taking my hat of the the CCCP.

I will not take my hat off to day light savings time. I don't like it.

I will not take my hat off to buffalo wings with anything but bleu cheese dressing. It's just not right.

I will not likely take my hat off to any new version of Van Halen. You'll likely have to pull it off of my head.

Soup

Tonight we all had soup for dinner. Dan had Chunky Chicken, Cheese and Broccoli Chunky Soup, Paul had Chicken and Sausage Gumbo and I had New England Clam Chowder.

Then we all sat down and rotted our brains out with television. That's what television seems to be good for, rotting your brains.

We also washed the sheets tonight. We washed them on account of I wake up almost every night with the sweats. It's really pretty gross. Just soaked, like I ran a marathon. Except I didn't run a marathon, I was just sleeping. So it's still happening.

I think that we have decided on a real tree for Christmas. That's right a real tree. But before we even get to that point, we're having Thanksgiving here. Hopefully we'll have a big, hungry crowd. And, we're not just having turkey, we're also having ham on account of I like ham.

Sunday

Well, it's been a rough and tumble couple of weeks so this is Sunday in prime form. Sunday is the day to be at home in jeans and a t-shirt... and no shoes. Socks only. I'd like to have a hamburger today and maybe practice the Thanksgiving Turkey thing once more. It's time to start rounding all of that stuff up. Here it is November 5th, we're not far off from Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's. Unreal.

Irish Fest

It's a long time until Irish Fest in Milwaukee. If things go the way that I want them to go, we'll have a great deal to celebrate there this year. Like my goal is to be on a plane to Ireland next fall. I'd love for that to happen. I have wanted to go for many years. Maybe this will be there. It will take a great deal of saving and I am sure some sacrifice... but I am sure that it will be well worth it. In addition to hopefully seeing our the home of my ancestors, I'd like to hook up with my friend Carol. At any rate... here's to hoping that one year from now I will be anticipating the trip of a life time.

Corn Cobbettes

We had corn cobbettes tonight with our ribs. We also had beans. I plan on having some chocolate as well as perhaps a Thursday night beer.

Right now we are watching the Louisville Cardinals play the team from West Virginia. We are rooting for Louisville. I have three Division I teams that I root for; Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Louisville. Those are the teams.

Now that I have eaten two corn cobbettes I have corn stuck in my teeth. Kind of a drag but I will get over it. There are far greater burdens to suffer in this world.

Last night we had the chance to have a short visit with our friends Rachael and Dennis. We were also lucky to catch Violette before bed time. She's just a shade over a year old and pretty darn cute. She has gorgeous eyes and is a little tiny peanut! She has just started to take her first steps, if I remember right, her Mom said it's been about a week of walking. She is fairly sure-footed for being such a new walker. Hope we get to see more of her.

I understand that my Mom was at Lambeau Field today for lunch. I also understand that she was interviewed by a Green Bay tv station while she was visiting Lambeau. I guess not Fred though. Not even sure what they interviewed her about. I did ask my friend Leah though to watch the news tonight to see if Mom made the final cut. Mom wanted Leah to know that she would be wearing her blue coat.
