Selfish
That's how I feel. I will say that. Today is my niece's actual birthday and I actually forgot. I even called her house twice. My mind is on matters that concern me and that concern Dan. How thoughtless.
How do you explain to your niece who is now eleven that you were too worried about your own stuff that you didn't have time to think of her? I know that I will see her at the party, but she knows that I called. She knows that I didn't even ask to talk to her. From good aunt to bad aunt in one week.

You are still a good aunt. Just a busy aunt. She will remember you for all the cool things you do for her. Those are the things that we hold onto.
