Brett Hull Retires

Brett Hull is behind only Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe in goals scored. That says a lot, doesn't it? 741 goals, 650 assists, 1391 points, a 19 year career +/- rating of 23, 265 power play goals, 20 short-handed goals and 110 game winning goals.
I was fortunate enough to see Hull score a few goals live and in person. The first one was at the United Center, the Dallas Stars against the Chicago Blackhawks. I was sitting in the corner just to the left of the goal. A few minutes in, Hull just pulls it. In goes the puck. I can die a happy hockey fan. Even through it killed me to see Hull in anything but a St. Louis Blues jersey, he was and is my favorite player. There were times I wondered... but he is. Thank you, Mr. Hull.

Yes it is such a pity! I kind of stopped watching hockey when the Oilers stopped winning the Stanley Cup and they cleaned up the game, but I know it was also due to the trading and retiring of some of my favourite players. Hopefully this year I'll get a chance to watch a couple of games -- in the absence of rugby something needs to fill the vacuum and all in all it's a darn good game. Cheers to you for sticking to your favourites.

ya he was good people
though i'm sure he's kinda happy about how he went out
i suspect those people that announce they are 'hanging them up'at the begining of a year and then go on a a tour of their last year playing do it out of ego a bit
Roy went out the same as Hull, he just felt it was right and dipped out. he didn't need people telling him for a whole year straight that he was the best to ever play his position (my opinion)
