It is Funny how Life Works Out
If anyone had told me 12 years ago that last night I was going to celebrate my mom's marriage that took place in December at the legion in Mequon with my husband and my in-laws and that I would only have three sips of beer, and that I would end up singing karaoke with my sister-in-law and my nieces, I would have looked that person straight in the eye and said, "You are out of your mind, my friend."
Well we did all of those things last night. I am very fortunate and very blessed that it truly was a celebration. Fred is a great guy. I wanted to make sure that everyone knew just how we feel about him. He loves us and we love him. Best of all he loves my mom. I made a toast and I was pretty shaky through the whole thing. Karaoke didn't get me nervous though.
We were also able to spend time with family from far away and with friends of many years.
We got home late after a long and fun day.
We were up this morning to drive to Green Bay. Today we celebrated Addison's Third Happy Birthday. Another thing I would have told you that you were out of your mind about 12 years ago.
I am glad that we were able to go and that we get asked to attend such milestone events. I only wish that the day would not have gone so fast, that we could have stayed longer, that there were more hours in the day, that Green Bay wasn't a three hour drive from home, that there were more trips to Green Bay.
Let me tell you something about my friend Leah and her family. They have always made me feel welcome and it hasn't changed at all over the years. Her husband John is a super swell guy who puts up with a nut like me. They have also been very kind to Dan. I really enjoy the time that we get to spend with them.
Now we're home and watching hockey that is the Canadian coverage of the Ducks and the Flames.
It is funny how life works out.
